SLOW MOVES - Moves that are taught slowly to beginners who need to learn precision and proper synchronization of the body. Learning moves slowly helps to eliminate bad habits.
SNAP(PING) - A method of execution requiring the natural weapon to strike out and back with a greater magnitude than the action of a WHIP. See WHIP.
SOFT - Refers to moves that are applied with little force. They are flexible moves that generally sting, but do not injure. These are MINOR MOVES that are useful set-ups for moves that strike with greater magnitude.
SOFT-THROW - A CONTROL MANIPULATION TAKEDOWN where the opponent is released before making contact with the ground.
SOLIDIFY YOUR BASE - Means to strengthen your stance so that it is both firm and strong.
SOPHISTICATED BASICS - A single basic move that produces multiple results.
SOPHISTICATED SIMPLICITY - The ability to compound simple basics into multiple actions. Moves that appear to have only one purpose, but actually produce a number of results.
SPINDLE or SPINDLING - A sub-category of BOWED CONFIGURATION. Essentially it is a lateral bowing of the body, or folding in the direction consistent with the WIDTH ZONES, forward (breast to breast) or back (shoulder blade to shoulder blade.)
SQUATTING HORSE - Used primarily jujitsu CONTROL MANIPULATION it is a horse modified in height to take advantage of upper body parts in forcing and maintaining the opponent in a THREE, or FOUR POINT STANCE, or in maintaining the opponent in a Lock, Pin, or Manipulation.
SQUEEZE - A method that requires grabbing and/or compressing specific areas on an opponent's body.
STABILIZE YOUR BASE - Similar to SOLIDIFY YOUR BASE with stress placed on balance.
