• Avoid shortcuts such as alleys and unfamiliar streets.

  • Display confidence whenever you are walking.   Don't walk with your head down.   Victims are usually chosen.
  • It is not safe to hitch-hike.  Teach your children not to do it either.
  • Do not display money, credit cards or important papers that you will need for the day.  Never carry excessive amounts of money or valuables with you.Be careful when wearing jewelry.  The can be an advertisement for a criminal.
  • Always keep a pen and paper with you.  It could help you by writing down important information for the police.

SAFETY TIPS WHILE DRIVING
  • Travel on well lighted busy streets.
  • Keep your doors locked and your windows closed.
  • Keep yopu valuables (purse or briefcase) begind the driver's seat or passenger seat.
  • Briefly check under your vehicle, around your vehicle and inside your vehicle before entering it.
  • If you are being followed, don't drive home!  Go to a police/sheriff's station or a fire station located between your home and your work.  Write the information on a piece of paper and keep it with you or in your glove compartment.
  • Do not ever pick up hitch-hikers.
  • Do not stop to offer help to a stranded motorist -- instead, send help to their location.
