Begin by moving your right foot forward into a defensive stance, dropping your center of gravity and bringing your right elbow in toward your body. This movement will off-balance your opponent forward by taking the "slack" out of his hands and at the same time maintain your strong balanced position. By taking the "slack" out of his hands, you will in effect, reduce your opponent's strength, weakening the hold. (1) Step in deep toward your opponent with your left foot and at the same instant bring your left fist down between your opponent's arms, dropping your center of gravity into a strong horse stance and delivering a powerful reverse hammer blow up and underneath your opponent's groin region, driving his testicles up into his stomach. This type of strike will cause your attacker to drop straight down. (2) Grab your right fist with your left hand after you have struck the groin and take a small half-step in with your right foot (which is presently back). This small half-step will allow you to maintain a stong base of balance once you have escaped the hold. (3) Keeping your center of gravity low throughout this technique, step back with your left foot into a deep defensive position, driving your right elbow into your opponent's wrists as you escape the hold. Make sure that you maintain your own balance throughout this technique.
4. Double Wrist Release with Chop to Side of Neck from the Front
Your opponent grabs your left wrist with his right hand and your right wrist with left hand. This is the reason that this hold is called a double wrist grab.
(1) Clasp both of your hands together and bring both of your elbows together. Bringing your elbows together will further weaken his grasp. Keeping your right elbow in close to your body allows you to use your body mass in effectively escaping the hold. At this time both of your radius bones are lined up against the weakest part of your opponent's hand (the point between the thumb and fingers). (2) Step in between your opponent's legs with your right foot, dropping into a low horse stance and drive the tip of your right elbow into your opponent's left wrist. This motion should allow you to escape the hod. As you are escaping the hold, use the twisting power of your hips to effect the escape. (3) As you release from the hold, rebound off your opponent's left wrist into a percussion chop with your right hand to the side of the neck at a 45 degree angle. Make sure that you maintain your own balance and drive the blow through your attacker, rather than chop at his neck.
