Begin by making sure that both of your knees are bent to help maintain your balance. (1) Keeping the palm of your right hand up, place the chop of your right hand tight against your chest underneath your opponent's left hand which is grabbing your right lapel. Keeping the palm of your left hand down, place the top of your left thumb tight against your chest. Bring the fingers of both of your hands together and lock them, again, keeping them both tight against your chest. At this point, both of your arms should be parallel with the floor. Keep your elbows up. (2) Bring the arm that is presently underneath (your right arm) up and over toward the left side of your body (180 degrees) while at the same time stepping across with your right foot. (3) As you are stepping across with your right foot, drive the tip of your right elbow down forcing your opponent to release the hold. (4) Upon releasing the hold, reverse direction on your right elbow driving the tip of this elbow back into your opponent's face.
6. Double Lapel Grab Release With A Vertical Drop
Your opponent grabs your left lapel with his right hand and your right lapel with his left hand. When you are grabbed, your opponent keeps both of his hands straight.

Keeping the palm of your left hand down, place the top of your left thumb tight against your chest. Keep your elbows up. (2) Bring the arm that is presently underneath (your right arm) straight up so that the tip of your elbow is facing the ceiling while at the same time stepping forward with your right foot. (3) Drive your right elbow straight down between your opponent's arms causing him to release the hold. Make sure that when you drive your elbow down you drop your center of gravity. (4) Upon releasing the hold, reverse direction on your right elbow driving the tip of your elbow back into your opponent's solar plexus.
7. Double Lapel Grab Release By Rubbing/Striking Nerves On Top of Hand
Your opponent grabs your left lapel with his right hand and your right lapel with his left hand. When you are grabbed, your opponent keeps both of his hands straight.
