Your child is attacked by an abductor that grabs his right hand with their left hand. This hold is referred to as an OUTSIDE WRIST GRAB. Here is what your child should do.
FIRST, your child should make a fist with his right hand. This will expand the hand and make it harder for the abductor to hold on. Your child should turn the strongest part of their hand (the radius bone on the thumb side) to the weakest part of the abductor's hand (the opening between the abductor's thumb and fingers). Your child should pull his right hand in slightly toward his or her chest which will take away some of the abductor's strength.
SECOND, your child should take a large step backward with his or her left foot (the opposite foot of the hand grabbed. This will off balance the abductor. Your child should drive the tip of his or her right elbow into the abductor's left wrist. This will cause the hold to be released. This escape works because it uses the principles of leverage and off balance to escape from the hold.
THIRD, your child should quickly run away and seek assistance from a PERSON IN AUTHORITY.
