Cross Wrist Release
"Bye-Bye Release"

HOW TO ESCAPE:

Your child is attacked by an abductor that grabs their right hand with his right hand. This hold is referred to as a CROSS WRIST GRAB. Here is what your child should do.

FIRST, your child should bring his or her right hand up about head level and wave bye-bye at his attacker.  In reality, he want to turn the radius bone (on the side of his thumb) to the weakest part of his attacker's hand (the open area between the attacker's thumb and fingers.

SECOND, your child should take a large step forward with his or her right foot (the same foot of the hand grabbed). This will increase the leverage your child has when doing the escape.  Your child should drive the tip of his or her right elbow into the abductor's right wrist. This will cause the hold to be released

THIRD, your child should quickly run away and seek assistance from a PERSON IN AUTHORITY.
